❤️ Russian theatre poster The Love for The Three Oranges
❤️ L’amore delle tre melarance is a 1761 play by Carlo Gozzi for the Teatro San Samuele, Venice. The play is best known today as the base for Prokofiev’s opera The Love for Three Oranges
❤️ The play “Love for Three Oranges” by Gozzi created a new genre – Fiabu, or a tragicomic tale for the theater. The basis of the fiab is fairy-tale material, where the comic and the tragic are miraculously mixed, The story of this tale was used by S. S. Prokofiev for his 1919 opera Love for Three Oranges.
The play was a resounding success. Acting improvisation is what was demanded from the actors and this was abundant in the play. The “presentation” of the tale should appear on the stage. Everything in this performance should sound like improvisation.
